The ‘Berliner Wine Trophy’ awards a Gold medal to five brands of the cooperative winery: Cantarranas Verdejo 2022, Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Verdejo 2022, Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Sauvignon 2022, Cuarenta Vendimias Rioja 2019 and ‘61’ Dorado en Rama

La Seca, 9 March 2023.- Bodega Cuatro Rayas’ wines continue to harvest awards for their quality in international competitions, as attested by the five Gold medals received by several brands of the cooperative winery at the 2023 Winter Round of the renowned German competition ‘Berliner Wine Trophy’. More than 8000 wines worldwide have been submitted in this edition, and a jury of about 230 persons has evaluated them under strict supervision. To ensure their exclusivity, the contest rules establish that only 30% of the wines per category can be awarded, a limitation Bodega Cuatro Rayas has far exceeded.
The new medals in the resume of the winery from Valladolid belong to Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Verdejo 2022 -the flagship of the cooperative winery produced entirely with Verdejo from mechanical night harvest. Also, at the German competition, other brands that received a Gold medal are Cuarenta Vendimias Rioja 2019–a red wine born from an inter-cooperative project produced with Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano varieties– or ‘61’ Dorado en Rama– a premium vintageless wine made combining equal parts of Verdejo grapes, the most distinctive in the Designation of Origin Rueda, and Palomino Fino, a variety doomed to disappear in this region, since its cultivation is forbidden. Still, the cooperative takes good care of its remaining century-old vines, intending to continue producing the original wines in the area.
To this recognition, we add the Gold received by Cantarranas Verdejo 2022 and Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Sauvignon 2022. lFurthermore, the cooperative’s participation in the Berlin event demonstrates again Bodega Cuatro Raya’s excellent winemaking and the significant interest drawn by its wines on the international market.
