La Seca, 9 November 2022. – Bodega Cuatro Rayas accesses the honour roll of the renowned publication specialised in Spanish wine ‘Guía Gourmets’ in its 2023 edition, placing seven brands among the best wines in the latest issue. Seven wines, with scores over 90 points, confirm the winemaking quality of the cooperative winery located in the heart of DO Rueda.
The Cuatro Rayas branded wines that received a star score from the tasting team of Grupo Gourmets are six Verdejo single-varietals—a grape indigenous to the region where the winery is located and characteristic of a large part of the wines from the cooperative in the province of Valladolid—that show the versatility of this grape. Verdejo from organic and conventional farming, young wines or aged on their lees and partially barrel fermented, with mechanical night harvest or selected manual harvest. Every Verdejo included in this selection has its self-identity, which makes it unique and has managed to win the palates of the Gourmet’s jury. The seventh wine from Bodega Cuatro Rayas included in this honour roll—and with the highest score, 94p—is the one that comes from 2021 saca (taking out) of the ‘61’ Dorado en Rama NV, a fortified premium wine from a selection of the best historical butts of the cooperative’s golden wine that is bottled without clarification or filtering so you can savour with it the aftertaste of the nearly 90 years of Cuatro Rayas history.

‘Guía Gourmets’ is known for blindly evaluating and scoring Spanish wines—this time, from more than 1000 wineries across our country—and vintages that have not been yet tasted by the publication team. However, among the over 4000 wines reviewed in the last edition of the Guide (on the market from this week), there is a prominent place for those wines that, thanks to their outstanding qualities, have scored over 90 points.
The cooperative Bodega Cuatro Rayas has seven different brands that have been worthy of this distinction in the last edition of ‘Guía Gourmet’s’, so it will have an area in the hall reserved for the best Spanish wines in 2023 during the celebration of the ’36 Edition of Salón Gourmets’, a specialised professional fair that will be held in Madrid next April.
