‘Wine Spectator’ praises the acidity and balance of Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias Cuvée

The famous American magazine has echoed in its digital edition the tasting of this Verdejo with a note of 90 points

May 2019, La Seca (Valladolid) .- ‘Wine Spectator’, One of the most prestigious North American wine magazines in the Anglo-Saxon and North American world, has highlighted the quality of the Cuatro Rayas Winery, specifically the Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias premium range. It has awarded, in this sense, 90 points to Cuatro Rayas Cuarenta Vendimias Cuvée 2017. “Offers an attractive blend of stone fruit, wet stone and floral notes. Generous, but pure, with a well-integrated acidity that leaves a finish of orange blossom «manifested in his criticism that he specifies about its balance» not showy, but harmonious «.

Bodega Cuatro Rayas presented in full harvest of 2018 Four Stripes Forty Vintage Cuvée 2017 , a collection white that combines the most valuable wine heritage of the DO Rueda (old vineyards located in the best areas of the appellation) and the work of three generations of winemakers. It is a Verdejo that breaks the myth that Verdejo wine should be consumed in a year, contrary to those who say that this grape has poor evolution in the bottle. In this aging wine that is now being released on the market, the winery ensures that the state of the grape (maturity, pH, etc.) selected from hawthorn more than forty years, as well as the aging on lees and a moderate aging in the barrel, give the wine the complexity necessary for time to make the best of it.

‘Wine Spectator’ has also highlighted the quality of Four Stripes Forty Harvest Verdejo On Lías 2017 (88 p.), Verdejo is also a reference to the DO Rueda and of which it says “shows a creamy texture that remains alive thanks to its bright acidity. It offers flavors of pear, herbs and ginger that strike a tasty balance. »

-It will be the third name of the winery since its birth in 1935 as Bodega Cooperativa de La Seca

La Seca (Valladolid), May 5, 2017. The partners of Agrícola Castellana have approved this Sunday in an Extraordinary Assembly to modify the company’s corporate name by which in recent years it had been consolidated as its commercial name: Cuatro Rayas Winery, an appellation derived from the main brand of wine that it makes and that takes its name from the famous Verdejo grape plantation located between the towns of La Seca, Medina del Campo, Rodilana and Rueda.

The name update is the second in the history of the winery founded in 1935 as Bodega Cooperativa de La Seca; In 1946 it was renamed Agrícola Castellana, thus uniting both the Valladolid and Segovian wine growers who are part of it.

This last change has been carried out as part of the mandatory statutory amendment required in June of last year and that enabled these types of companies a period of two years to adapt to the new CyL Cooperatives law (2/2018, of 18 June, which modifies 4/2002, of April 11) and which was approved in the Cortes of Castilla y León with the consensus of all parliamentary groups with the aim of making these types of organizations more competitive.

The partners of the winery, likewise, approved the modification of the bylaws to allow a weighted vote based on the hectares of vineyard, a new statutory feature with the aim of facilitating the promotion of investments in favor of the competitiveness of the winery of which they are part. more than 300 wine-growing partners in 30 towns and that allows more than 80 direct jobs in rural areas.

Tribute to former president Amador Diez
The assembly concluded with a meaningful act in which the widow of Amador Diez, in the presence of her children and grandchildren, discovered a commemorative plaque that shows that the bottling logistics center bears the name of the former president in recognition of his mark during two decades (1988-2009), a fundamental task in the future of the current Cuatro Rayas Winery.
