The cooperative Bodega Cuatro Rayas has declared its willingness to improve its commitment to the environment through the ISO 14001 certification for Environmental Management Systems.

La Seca, 14 July 2022 – . Bodega Cuatro Rayas has announced that its next environmental sustainability goal will be to become certified with the ISO 14001 standard – Environmental Management Systems, throughout 2022.

This international certification will allow the cooperative to prove its commitment to environmental protection by managing environmental risks connected with its business activities. Bodega Cuatro Rayas has developed several courses of action regarding glass, the main material used in the bottling process and further storage to meet this goal.

In 2019, the cooperative drew up a report in association with Ecovidrio concluding that in order to contribute to the improvement of the environment, the weight of each 1.5L bottle should be reduced by 30g. However, this was a logistic challenge since the reduction of this material led to a cracking increase in the bottles during the bottling process and, as a result, a greater use of glass to replace the damaged bottles.

Hence, the winery followed a different strategy that provides a solid environmental solution—to increase the use of 0.75cl bottles with a lower weight and minimise the use of 1.5L bottles.

The design of a new octagonal BIB goes in hand with this decision—a new BIB model with an octagonal shape that is made of easy-to-recycle materials. This Octagonal BIB has the protected geographical indication seal, debunking the myth that wines not packed in glass lack in quality.

In addition to this series of actions included under the motto «Green & Social», all glass used by Bodega Cuatro Rayas is fully recycled. It comes from specialised recycling companies that ensure the reduction of the energy use during the manufacturing process, developing a sustainable chain from its manufacture to its further usage and thus contributing to an improvement of the circular economy.

Los socios viticultores de la bodega de la DO Rueda se reúnen en Asamblea de forma presencial – tras dos años de reuniones telemáticas – para celebrar elecciones a la mitad de los cargos de su Consejo Rector y poner en común los resultados del ejercicio 2021. Los cooperativistas aprueban el Plan Estratégico de Cuatro Rayas para los años 22-24.

La Seca, 26 de junio de 2022.- Los socios y socias cooperativistas de Bodega Cuatro Rayas han elegido este domingo en Asamblea General Ordinaria a la mitad de los miembros de su Consejo Rector, unas elecciones en las que se ha votado para designar presidente, tesorero y cinco vocales que representarán -junto a los miembros que ya conforman el órgano- a casi 300 socios y socias cuya actividad vitícola se desarrolla en más de 30 poblaciones del ámbito rural de las provincias de Valladolid y de Segovia. El Consejo se renueva por completo cada cuatro años.

Tras el escrutinio de los votos depositados, Ignacio M. Obregón ha sido reelegido presidente de la cooperativa y continuará al frente de la junta rectora, a la que se incorpora Óscar de Íscar como tesorero y Daniel Vidal, José Ignacio González, Ángel Calleja, María Soledad Moyano y Javier Gamarra para ocupar los puestos vacantes en la designación de vocales. Los viticultores y viticultoras de la cooperativa radicada en la localidad vallisoletana de La Seca aprobaron, por otro lado, el informe de gestión del año 2021 así como las cuentas anuales y el informe de auditoría de dicho ejercicio. Durante el encuentro se han compartido, también, los ejes que definen el nuevo Plan Estratégico de la bodega para el periodo 2022-2024.

La cita ha finalizado con un vino español en el que los socios y socias han podido brindar de forma presencial con el mejor Verdejo de la DO Rueda tras dos años de encuentros virtuales debido a la crisis sanitaria.

The winegrower members of the DO Rueda winery gathered on a face-to-face General Meeting—after two years of online meetings—to hold elections for half the positions of the Governing Council and shared 2021 fiscal year results. In addition, the cooperative members approved Cuatro Rayas’ Strategic Plan for 22-24.

La Seca, 26 June 2022.- The cooperative members of Bodega Cuatro Rayas have elected half of the Governing Council members this Sunday in Ordinary General Meeting. In these elections, members voted to elect a president, a treasurer, and five members that, together with the members that already integrated the board, will represent near 300 members who carry out their agricultural activity in more than 30 rural municipalities of Valladolid and Segovia provinces. Governing Council is entirely renewed every four years.

After the count of the casted votes, Ignacio M. Obregón has been re-elected as president of the cooperative and will continue leading the governing board, with Óscar de Íscar as treasurer and Daniel Vidal, José Ignacio González, Ángel Calleja, María Soledad Moyano, and Javier Gamarra to fill the vacant member positions. In addition, the winegrowers of the cooperative located in the town of La Seca in the province of Valladolid approved the 2021 management report, the annual accounts, and the audit report within that year. During the meeting, they also shared the guiding principles that define the new Strategic Plan of the winery for the period 2022-2024.

The event finished with a snack where the members could enjoy a toast in-person sharing the best DO Rueda Verdejo after two years of virtual meetings due to the health crisis.

La edición 2022 del certamen suma cinco Platas equivalentes a puntuaciones iguales o superiores a 90 al medallero de la bodega cooperativa

La Seca, 22 de junio de 2022. – El reconocido concurso británico ‘Decanter Awards’ – uno de los más grandes y prestigiosos del sector del vino, organizado por la revista homónima de importante peso prescriptor a nivel internacional- ha hecho públicos sus resultados para la edición 2022 de sus premios, entre los que se encuentra la medalla de Oro concedida a Cantarranas Verdejo 2021, elaborado por la cooperativa Bodega Cuatro Rayas, bajo la dirección técnica de la enóloga Elena M. Oyagüe.

Este varietal – elaborado a partir de uva proveniente de viñedos de suelo cascajoso localizados en la provincia de Valladolid, vendimiados por la noche y de forma mecanizada para preservar sus propiedades organolépticas – ha alcanzado 95 puntos según el criterio de los jueces de la edición 2022 del certamen, una calificación que reconoce su excepcional calidad. Además, Cantarranas Verdejo 2021 ha obtenido en el certamen una mención “Value – under £14.99” que pone de manifiesto su excelente relación calidad-precio, siendo el único DO Rueda con medalla de Oro en contar con este reconocimiento.

Tras su paso por ‘Decanter’, la bodega cooperativa incorpora también a su medallero, cinco Platas equivalentes a puntuaciones iguales o superiores a 90 según los estrictos estándares de valoración de los jueces del certamen británico: cuatro de ellas han ido a recaer en los Verdejos Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Verdejo 2021 (90 puntos), Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios 2021 (90 puntos), Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée 2015 ( 90 puntos), Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée 2018 (90 puntos), mientras que la elaboración premium ‘61’ Dorado en Rama N/V – generoso elaborado a partir de un coupage de Verdejo con Palomino Fino – alcanza los 93 puntos en esta edición.

La Seca, 22 June 2022. – The renowned British competition ‘Decanter Awards’—one of the biggest and most prestigious within the wine industry, organised by the international opinion-leader and self-titled magazine—has published the results of the 2022 edition prizes, including the Gold medal granted to Cantarranas Verdejo 2021, made by the cooperative Bodega Cuatro Rayas, under the technical lead of the winemaker Elena M. Oyagüe.

This varietal wine—produced with grapes from vineyards with gravelly soils in the province of Valladolid and mechanically harvested at night to preserve its organoleptic properties—scored 95 points according to the jury criteria at the 2022 edition of the competition, recognising thus its exceptional quality. In addition, Cantarranas Verdejo 2021 got a mention: “Value – under £14.99”, highlighting its great value for the money and becoming the only DO Rueda with a Gold medal to receive this recognition.

Following the ‘Decanter” event, the cooperative winery also adds to its medal table five Silver, with scores equal to or over 90 points, according to the strict scoring standards of the British contest jury. Four of them went to the Verdejos Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Verdejo 2021 (90 points), Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios 2021 (90 points), Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée 2015 ( 90 points), Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée 2018 (90 points), while the premium brand ‘61’ Dorado en Rama N/V —fortified wine made with a coupage of Verdejo and Palomino Fino—scored 93 points at this edition

La Seca, 2 de junio de 2022.- El prestigioso ‘Concours Mondial de Bruxelles’ ha hecho públicos los resultados de su edición 2022 -que se celebró del 19 al 22 de mayo en Cosenza (Italia)-, certamen en el que Bodega Cuatro Rayas ha obtenido dos nuevas medallas de Oro para las añadas 2017 y 2018 de su verdejo premium Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée, elaborado a partir de una selección de los viñedos de más edad de la Cooperativa, algunos de ellos prefiloxéricos. Además, otro monovarietal de Verdejo – Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios 2021– recoge en el certamen una medalla de Plata, ratificando la excelencia elaboradora de la bodega cooperativa localizada en La Seca (Valladolid) con esta variedad de uva.

Los nuevos Oros que han llegado para engrosar el ya abultado curriculum de Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée ponen de manifiesto la excepcionalidad de la elaboración más artesanal y cuidada de Bodega Cuatro Rayas, que se produce a partir de una selección de las 10 mejores hectáreas de viñedo centenario en vaso de la bodega −vendimiadas a mano− y que se vinifica con el objetivo de favorecer su longevidad, haciendo que sea idóneo para su consumo en la actualidad al tiempo que mantiene un gran potencial de envejecimiento en botella.  Este verdejo premium sólo sale al mercado en añadas seleccionadas y con un número de botellas muy limitado -inferior a 3.000 botellas por añada-.

Elaborado también a partir de viñas viejas, Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios es un Verdejo parcialmente fermentado en barrica y con crianza de 5 meses sobre lías con battônage. En su trayectoria -junto con la medalla de Plata otorgada por el ‘Mundial de Bruselas 2022’ a la añada 2021- destacan reconocimientos como los 92 puntos y 5 estrellas otorgados por la Guía Peñín 2023 o los 90 puntos ‘Highly recommended’ con los que Decanter Magazine valoró la añada 2020 de esta elaboración en su panel dedicado a la variedad Verdejo.

La Seca, 2 June de 2022.- The prestigious ‘Concours Mondial de Bruxelles’ has published the results of the 2022 edition—held from 19 to 22 May in Cosenza (Italia)—, an event where Bodega Cuatro Rayas has won two new Gold medals for the 2017 and 2018 vintages of its premium Verdejo  Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée, made from a selection of the oldest vineyards of the cooperative, some of them pre-phylloxera ones. In addition, another single-variety Verdejo – Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios 2021– received the Silver medal at the contest, thus confirming the winemaking excellence of the cooperative winery in La Seca (Valladolid) with this grape variety.

These new Gold medals have arrived to swell the already packed list of triumphs of  Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée highlighting the exceptionality of Bodega Cuatro Rayas’ most artisan and carefully-produced brand, made from a selection of the best 10 hectares of goblet-trained century-old vines of the winery—harvested by hand—, and vinified to improve its longevity, making it ideal for its consumption at the moment while maintaining a great ageing potential in the bottle. This premium Verdejo is only commercialised in selected vintages and with a minimal bottle amount production—less than 3000 bottles per vintage.

Also produced from old vines, Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios is a partially barrel-fermented Verdejo aged for 5 months over its lees with battônage. Throughout its path—along with the Silver medal the ‘Brussels World Contest 2022’ awarded to the 2021 vintage—, two recognitions stand out: the 92 points and 5 stars awarded by Guía Peñín 2023 and the 90 points ‘Highly recommended’ Decanter Magazine scored by 2020 vintage of this brand in the panel dedicated to the Verdejo variety.
