Organised by the British magazine under the same name, these awards also granted this wine a ‘Value’ mention in recognition of its excellent value for the money
The 2022 edition of the awards adds five Silver medals, with a score equal to or over 90 points each, to the medal tally of the cooperative winery
La Seca, 22 June 2022. – The renowned British competition ‘Decanter Awards’—one of the biggest and most prestigious within the wine industry, organised by the international opinion-leader and self-titled magazine—has published the results of the 2022 edition prizes, including the Gold medal granted to Cantarranas Verdejo 2021, made by the cooperative Bodega Cuatro Rayas, under the technical lead of the winemaker Elena M. Oyagüe.
This varietal wine—produced with grapes from vineyards with gravelly soils in the province of Valladolid and mechanically harvested at night to preserve its organoleptic properties—scored 95 points according to the jury criteria at the 2022 edition of the competition, recognising thus its exceptional quality. In addition, Cantarranas Verdejo 2021 got a mention: “Value – under £14.99”, highlighting its great value for the money and becoming the only DO Rueda with a Gold medal to receive this recognition.
Following the ‘Decanter” event, the cooperative winery also adds to its medal table five Silver, with scores equal to or over 90 points, according to the strict scoring standards of the British contest jury. Four of them went to the Verdejos Cuatro Rayas Vendimia Nocturna Verdejo 2021 (90 points), Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios 2021 (90 points), Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée 2015 ( 90 points), Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée 2018 (90 points), while the premium brand ‘61’ Dorado en Rama N/V —fortified wine made with a coupage of Verdejo and Palomino Fino—scored 93 points at this edition
