Bodega Cuatro Rayas’ most traditional brand adds two new Gold medals to its resume after taking part in the prestigious ‘Brussels World Contest’, where 2017 and 2018 vintages of this Verdejo for ageing were recognised for their quality

The event awarded a Silver medal to Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios 2021, a Verdejo produced by the cooperative from goblet-trained old vines and ageing on its lees

La Seca, 2 June de 2022.- The prestigious ‘Concours Mondial de Bruxelles’ has published the results of the 2022 edition—held from 19 to 22 May in Cosenza (Italia)—, an event where Bodega Cuatro Rayas has won two new Gold medals for the 2017 and 2018 vintages of its premium Verdejo  Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée, made from a selection of the oldest vineyards of the cooperative, some of them pre-phylloxera ones. In addition, another single-variety Verdejo – Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios 2021– received the Silver medal at the contest, thus confirming the winemaking excellence of the cooperative winery in La Seca (Valladolid) with this grape variety.

These new Gold medals have arrived to swell the already packed list of triumphs of  Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée highlighting the exceptionality of Bodega Cuatro Rayas’ most artisan and carefully-produced brand, made from a selection of the best 10 hectares of goblet-trained century-old vines of the winery—harvested by hand—, and vinified to improve its longevity, making it ideal for its consumption at the moment while maintaining a great ageing potential in the bottle. This premium Verdejo is only commercialised in selected vintages and with a minimal bottle amount production—less than 3000 bottles per vintage.

Also produced from old vines, Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios is a partially barrel-fermented Verdejo aged for 5 months over its lees with battônage. Throughout its path—along with the Silver medal the ‘Brussels World Contest 2022’ awarded to the 2021 vintage—, two recognitions stand out: the 92 points and 5 stars awarded by Guía Peñín 2023 and the 90 points ‘Highly recommended’ Decanter Magazine scored by 2020 vintage of this brand in the panel dedicated to the Verdejo variety.

La Seca, 2 de junio de 2022.- El prestigioso ‘Concours Mondial de Bruxelles’ ha hecho públicos los resultados de su edición 2022 -que se celebró del 19 al 22 de mayo en Cosenza (Italia)-, certamen en el que Bodega Cuatro Rayas ha obtenido dos nuevas medallas de Oro para las añadas 2017 y 2018 de su verdejo premium Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée, elaborado a partir de una selección de los viñedos de más edad de la Cooperativa, algunos de ellos prefiloxéricos. Además, otro monovarietal de Verdejo – Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios 2021– recoge en el certamen una medalla de Plata, ratificando la excelencia elaboradora de la bodega cooperativa localizada en La Seca (Valladolid) con esta variedad de uva.

Los nuevos Oros que han llegado para engrosar el ya abultado curriculum de Amador Diez Verdejo Cuvée ponen de manifiesto la excepcionalidad de la elaboración más artesanal y cuidada de Bodega Cuatro Rayas, que se produce a partir de una selección de las 10 mejores hectáreas de viñedo centenario en vaso de la bodega −vendimiadas a mano− y que se vinifica con el objetivo de favorecer su longevidad, haciendo que sea idóneo para su consumo en la actualidad al tiempo que mantiene un gran potencial de envejecimiento en botella.  Este verdejo premium sólo sale al mercado en añadas seleccionadas y con un número de botellas muy limitado -inferior a 3.000 botellas por añada-.

Elaborado también a partir de viñas viejas, Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios es un Verdejo parcialmente fermentado en barrica y con crianza de 5 meses sobre lías con battônage. En su trayectoria -junto con la medalla de Plata otorgada por el ‘Mundial de Bruselas 2022’ a la añada 2021- destacan reconocimientos como los 92 puntos y 5 estrellas otorgados por la Guía Peñín 2023 o los 90 puntos ‘Highly recommended’ con los que Decanter Magazine valoró la añada 2020 de esta elaboración en su panel dedicado a la variedad Verdejo.
