The 2020 vintage of this Verdejo for ageing from Bodega Cuatro Rayas has the unique label that DO Rueda reserves to identify the most extraordinary and gastronomic wines in the Designation of Origin

La Seca, 16 September 2021.- Bodega Cuatro Rayas—a wine cooperative located in DO Rueda that gathers the vineyards of more than 300 members in the provinces of Valladolid and Segovia—launches a new brand that reaches the market under the category ‘Gran Vino de Rueda’ (Great Rueda Wine), a unique label that this Designation of Origin reserves for the most exclusive wines in this region because of their limited production and their highly haut-cuisine oriented profile.

After years of assessment tasks in the oldest vineyards of the cooperative—which since 2010 vintage has been actively working in their classification and characterisation—, for the winemaking of specific brands within the framework of this new category, the winery selected the oldest plots and gave them special care: manual harvest in crates differentiated by plot, vibrating selection table, process with specialised machinery for small batches and individual winemaking in vats of different materials—stainless steel, French oak tronconic vat, and new 500L barrels.

Cuarenta Vendimias Cuvée 2020 Gran Vino de Rueda is also launched as a collectable white wine that puts together the most valuable viticultural heritage in DO Rueda and debunks the myth that Verdejo wine must be consumed within the year. In this wine, the condition of the grape (ripeness, pH, etc.), as well as the ageing on lees for five months and the short oak barrel ageing with a 3-month daily bâttonage, provide it with the required complexity so that time can bring the best of it. Intense, balanced and with a very long finish, the single coupage of 9,876 bottles of Cuarenta Vendimias Cuvée 2020 GVR represents the ultimate expression of the distinctive characteristics of the variety—fennel, white flowers, and fresh fruit combined to perfection with spicy and balsamic undertones.

TEN BRANDS FROM CUATRO RAYAS WITH 90 POINTS OR MORE IN ‘PEÑÍN 2022’

Bodega Cuatro Rayas’ brands are featured prominently among ‘2022 Peñín Guide’ ratings, in which a total of 10 Cuatro Rayas’ wines have been rated 90 points or over. Besides, six of them—including Cuarenta Vendimias Cuvée 2020 GVR– have received special recognition for their value for money and appear depicted in the 2022 Peñín Guide as wines with 5 stars.

La añada 2020 de este verdejo de guarda de Bodega Cuatro Rayas cuenta con la tirilla especial que la DO Rueda reserva para identificar los vinos más especiales y gastronómicos de la denominación de origen.

La Seca, 16 de septiembre de 2021.- Bodega Cuatro Rayas −cooperativa vitivinícola de la DO Rueda que aglutina los viñedos de más de 300 socios de las provincias de Valladolid y Segovia– presenta su nueva elaboración en llegar al mercado bajo la categoría ‘Gran Vino de Rueda’, distintivo especial que dicha denominación de origen reserva para los vinos más exclusivos de este territorio por tratarse de producciones limitadas y contar con un perfil marcadamente orientado a la alta gastronomía.

Tras años de trabajo de valorización de los viñedos más viejos de la cooperativa -que desde la añada 2010 ha trabajado intensamente en su clasificación y caracterización-, para la vinificación de elaboraciones específicas enmarcadas en esta nueva categoría se han seleccionado los pagos más antiguos y se les ha prestado un especial cuidado: vendimia manual en cajones diferenciada por pagos, paso por mesa de selección vibrante, procesado con maquinaria especializada para pequeñas vinificaciones y elaboraciones individualizadas en depósitos de diferentes materiales -acero inoxidable, troncocónico de roble francés y barricas nuevas de 500 litros-.

Cuarenta Vendimias Cuvée 2020 Gran Vino de Rueda se presenta, así, como un blanco de colección que ensambla el patrimonio vitivinícola más valioso de la DO Rueda y que rompe el mito de que el vino verdejo debe consumirse en un año. En él, el estado de la uva (madurez, pH, etc.), así como la crianza sobre lías durante 5 meses y un moderado paso por barrica con 3 meses de bâttonage diario, aportan la complejidad necesaria a este vino para que el tiempo saque lo mejor del mismo. Intenso, equilibrado y muy largo, el coupage único de 9.876 botellas de Cuarenta Vendimias Cuvée 2020 GVR representa la máxima expresión de las características propias de la variedad: hinojo, flores blancas y fruta fresca ensamblados a la perfección con notas especiadas y balsámicos.

DIEZ ELABORACIONES DE CUATRO RAYAS CON 90 PUNTOS O MÁS EN ‘PEÑÍN 2022’

Las elaboraciones de Bodega Cuatro Rayas cuentan con un lugar destacado entre las valoraciones de la ‘Guía Peñín 2022’, en la que un total de 10 elaboraciones de Cuatro Rayas han obtenido puntuaciones iguales o superiores a los 90 puntos. Además, seis de ellas -incluyendo a Cuarenta Vendimias Cuvée 2020 GVR– han recibido un reconocimiento especial a su relación calidad precio y aparecen reflejadas en la Guía Peñín 2022’ como vinos con 5 estrellas.
