La Seca, 4 February 2021.- The prestigious German magazine ‘Weinwirtschaft’, published by the Meininger Group, devotes its February issue to the Appellation of Origin Rueda, and features in the cover the Verdejo Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios from the cooperative winery located in La Seca, in the province of Valladolid.
Inside the magazine, we found published a review about the exceptional quality of this Verdejo produced with grapes from old vines, partially barrel-fermented and aged on its lees for five months with battônage:
Cuatro Rayas, founded in 1935, is one of the promoters of the establishment of the Appellation of Origin Rueda in 1980 and supports «green & social» co-operation. Every step of the work is always planned with a view of the winery’s ecological and social commitment. The exceptional wine ‘Cuatro Rayas Viñedos Centenarios’ was vinified for the first time on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Cuatro Rayas and is based on the same sustainable leitmotif. It is a selection of ancient Verdejo vines, between 80 and 100 years old. The Verdejo grapes are fermented partly in wooden barrels and partly in stainless steel vats. The result is an impressive single-variety cuvée, with a balanced minerality, which last year was rightly awarded the title of «Best of Rueda» by Tim Atkin. A dazzling gem from Rueda!
